Sports Premium
At Woodside Academy we believe that PE and sport is very important and has the potential to change young people’s lives for the better.
Through PE and sport our children learn to develop the important qualities of discipline, resilience, communication, teamwork and ambition; leading to improved concentration, attitude, and academic achievement.
We have welcomed the Government’s announcements in June and December 2013 to provide additional funding for three years to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. We are committed to using this resource to provide high quality PE lessons across all our classes, greater opportunities for sporting competitions, extra-curricular clubs for all our young people and support for our less active children.
The Vision
What does the Sport Premium mean for my School?
‘Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this’
(DfE June 2013)
The Sports Premium Grant is £1600 per school + £10 per child each year. We are working closely with Waltham Forest School Sports Network and have identified key areas through a self-review process to ensure we can meet high expectations in PE and sport for all our children.
